During the Christmas season we encourage our girls from Hope House to travel home with their families if it is a possibility, for some it is not.
During the last few days, some of the girls have traveled home to their villages in the depths of the jungle. Two of our girls traveled days away to a place they no longer call home. They got a public bus with their parents and traveled as far as the bus would go, over 12 hours away to a port that ends at a river that separates Ecuador with Peru, from there they load on a canoe to travel down river over 7 hours to the point where the trail heads way to their village that is another long walk to the village square. Although, long and hard, they smile as they know they have the opportunity to see brothers and sisters and hope to be able to share with their family some of what they have learned over the past 6 months. I am proud of our girls that so boldly hold to their FAITH and never cease to look for opportunities to share the gospel that they hold so dearly to their hearts.
I sit in my home today with a bit of Christmas spirit, knowing that the little sparks we had the opportunity plant in the lives of these girls are now brightly shining although the jungles of Ecuador during this Christmas season. That is what Christmas is all about!
